Registration DateSeptember 04, 2009

Aureobasidium (black yeast) culture medium (hereafter referred to as “Aureo culture medium”) and EF lactic acid bacteria were tested for their protective effect against Listeria monocytogenes, one of the causative organisms of food poisoning. When mice were divided into three groups and infected with Listeria monocytogenes by administering the test substances, 71.4% of the Aureo culture medium-treated mice and 85.7% of the mice treated with the combination of Aureo culture medium and EF lactobacilli survived, while those treated with saline solution (PBS) were completely destroyed.Based on these results, the combination of Aureo culture medium and EF lactobacilli was found to have immunostimulatory effects.

Summary

Summary

Background

This Japanese patent (License No. 4369258) covers compositions using Aureobasidium pullulans-derived β-glucan as an immunity enhancer, protecting intellectual property around specific formulations and methods for immune health applications.

Key Findings

The patent claims immunity-enhancing compositions based on AP-glucan, establishing proprietary methods for its formulation as an immune health product. Patent protection reflects commercial validation of AP-glucan's immunostimulatory efficacy.

Relevance to Aureobasidium Beta Glucan Research

Japanese patent protection for AP-glucan immunity enhancer applications demonstrates commercial confidence in its immunostimulatory properties. Patents in this area protect the substantial research investment in Aureobasidium pullulans β-glucan and validate its commercial viability as an immune health ingredient.
