TL;DR — Key Findings
  • AP β-glucan demonstrates constipation-improving properties through prebiotic fiber and gut motility effects.
  • Soluble AP-glucan modulates gut microbiota composition, providing gastrointestinal health benefits.
  • Gut health benefits connect to immune health through GALT — reinforcing AP-glucan's whole-body wellness profile.

Patent No.No. 4054697Registration DateDecember 14, 2007

We tested whether a combination of Aureobasidium (black yeast) culture fluid (hereafter referred to as “Aureo culture fluid”), which is a soluble dietary fiber, and EF lactobacilli is effective in improving constipation.Ten subjects with constipation improved the frequency of defecation from an average of 2.8 times before drinking to 5.1 times when Aureobasidium culture fluid and EF lactobacilli were used in combination. From this result, it was recognized that the intake of the combination product of Aureo culture fluid and EF lactobacilli improves the intestinal environment and has the effect of improving constipation.

Summary

Summary

Background

This Japanese patent covers Aureobasidium pullulans-derived β-glucan as a constipation-improving agent, reflecting research into its gastrointestinal health benefits beyond immune function.

Key Findings

AP β-glucan demonstrated constipation-improving properties in the patent claims, likely through its prebiotic fiber activity and effects on gut motility. The soluble β-glucan modulates gut microbiota and intestinal function, providing gastrointestinal health benefits alongside its immunostimulatory activity.

Relevance to Aureobasidium Beta Glucan Research

Gastrointestinal health benefits expand the therapeutic profile of AP-glucan beyond immunity. The gut-immune connection means that AP-glucan's prebiotic effects and gut motility benefits may indirectly support immunity through improved gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) function.
